Imagine creating your own childcare centre – from the design of the facility to the delivery of programs. That’s what we did in 2009, building on our own experiences and desires as parents and drawing on the input of experts and local families.

We started by articulating our values and philosophy for young children. We knew that the early years are the time when children develop a sense of self worth and belonging. Our goal would be to help form the solid foundation on which each child could learn and grow – socially, cognitively and physically.

Consistent with these objectives, we understood the importance of hiring the best staff, developing excellent programming and creating an eco-friendly environment with a strong connection to nature. After choosing a convenient location for families, we designed what would become a 10,000-square-foot, eight-room facility reflecting our vision.

Today, Green Apple Kids provides:

  • bright and attractive classrooms flooded by natural daylight
  • nutritious, locally grown and organic cuisine
  • gardens and natural playgrounds where children can explore nature
  • yoga, music, drama, dance, languages, and other enhanced programming
  • parking for easy drop off and pick up, and proximity to public transit
  • high standards of security, cleanliness and safety

Come by for a visit and you’ll see that every aspect of the centre supports our mission. Our parents will confirm that our centre is constantly evolving as we identify new and better ways of helping our children flourish during these critical years. View our natural playground created by award-winning Bienenstock Playgrounds, a division of Gardens for Living.

We actually don’t even consider Green Apple Kids a daycare. The teachers and staff care for my son as family would. They treat the children as individuals, not just as a group. If a child has a challenging circumstance, they go above and beyond to adapt to the situation and help the child grow in a positive and constructive manner. Our son has experienced positive growth in all aspects of his life.

It’s hard to leave your child with anyone, but when we drop off our son, there is no stress, no guilt. We feel that we made the best choice for him with Green Apple Kids. Knowing that he is happy and loved makes a happy family life.

After 25 years in early childhood education, what I love the most is that no two days are ever alike. As the Director and General Manager, I have the opportunity to spend the day sharing in the successes of an amazing team of educators.

After graduating from Ryerson University, with BAA ECE, I was fortunate to have long term tenures with both large and small sized organizations, based in community settings. I enjoy the engagement within the neighbourhoods and participation within local events and causes.  My role at Green Apple Kids has afforded me the opportunity to work alongside the local police division and community hospital (St. Joseph’s).  Our focus on social engagement and volunteerism is shared enthusiastically with our families and our staff.

When I am not working  in the community of my ‘workplace home’, you can probably find me digging in my garden or hanging out with my family cheering on our home teams!  It has been so great to share that sports addiction with the staff and students here as we have cheered on the Argos to a Grey Cup and the Blue Jays onto a division championship and the Leafs…well… fingers crossed.

I love being in the company of the children, learning from them, and seeing how they grow into their own individual selves.

I graduated from George Brown College, with a diploma in ECE a little over 10 years ago.  I had an opportunity to work within a few excellent community based childcare centres thereafter.

My life at Green Apple Kids began six years ago as a registered ECE, and in that time I have been fortunate to wear many hats and have progressed to Assistant Director.

My professional development and education coupled with my experiences with the children has afforded me the opportunity to grow into the leader I am today – a leader that supports, connects and learns every day.

I live my life through travel, experiences and compassion for others.  I also try to laugh often – usually at myself, at movies and in the company of family and friends (both two legged and four legged).

I am proud to be part of the Green Apple Family.

am a proud mother of a little girl who is my inspiration and encourages me to be the best teacher I can be.  I enjoy reading, listening to music and love to dance and sing.

I am a George Brown College graduate with over 20 years experience.  I have loved the years of mentoring and encouraging children to learn and grow.  Following their lead and letting them explore has helped me to see the world in a creative way.
A big part of being an RECE has been building the relationship with the families.  Being their support system and encouraging them through the process of raising their child has proven to be a gratifying accomplishment.  Knowing that I have the ability to share my knowledge is great!
I’ve had the pleasure of working at Green Apple Kids for the past 8 years.  During that time, I’ve had the opportunity to work in the fast paced toddler room and the adventurous infant room.  These experiences have lead me to further my professional career as the Assistant Director.
I look forward to continuing to strengthen my skills and continue to grow in the Green Apple Family.
